Faith Made Tangible: Welcome to Christos Ministries
Sometimes faith looks like prayer. Sometimes it looks like encouragement, generosity, or simply showing up when someone needs help. And sometimes, faith looks like a classroom.
At Christos Ministries, we believe the love of Christ is meant to become something people can experience in practical ways. That belief has shaped our ministry from the beginning: bringing people together, pooling resources, and turning generosity into opportunities that can continue serving children, families, and communities for years to come.
Our mission is simple at its heart: put faith into action. Christos Ministries is a Christian nonprofit focused especially on building and supporting educational environments in underserved communities. Through school construction and restoration, educational resources, scholarships, and practical community support, we work alongside local partners to create places where children can learn and communities can grow stronger.
It Started With a Simple Idea
Christos Ministries was founded by the late Rev. Dr. Monica McKenzie and incorporated in Georgia in 1999. But the story began with something wonderfully uncomplicated: a group of lifelong friends believed they could accomplish more together than any one of them could accomplish alone.
They pooled their resources, relationships, abilities, and influence around a shared desire to serve God and others. That spirit of collective stewardship remains at the heart of Christos today.
Many people.
One purpose.
Lasting impact.
A single gift may help purchase materials. Another may help equip a classroom. Another may contribute toward a scholarship or the restoration of a building. Individually, those contributions may seem modest. Together, they can become something extraordinary.
A School Is More Than a School
Much of Christos Ministries' work has centered on education, particularly the construction, restoration, and support of schools and educational facilities. But we have learned something important through that work:
A school is never only a school.
A safe classroom gives a child a place to learn.
Reliable schooling can help give parents the stability they need to work.
A functioning facility can become a gathering place and lasting resource for a neighborhood.
And the opportunities created for one student can ripple outward into a family—and potentially into another generation.
That is why Christos looks beyond the walls of the building itself. The school may be the most visible part of the work, but stronger families and stronger communities are the larger story. As the Christos brand vision puts it:
Building schools. Strengthening communities. Sharing Christ's love.
What Has Christos Ministries Accomplished?
Over more than two decades of ministry, Christos has helped turn generosity into tangible educational opportunity. The ministry's work has included building and restoring educational facilities, equipping schools with resources, providing scholarship support, responding to urgent needs in communities already connected to the ministry, and maintaining long-term relationships with the people and institutions it serves.
One example is the Glendevon Primary and Infant School project in Jamaica, dedicated in 2022. The project serves approximately 130 children and includes classrooms as well as facilities designed to support the broader needs of the school community.
But buildings and numbers tell only part of the story. The deeper accomplishment is what happens after the construction crews leave. Children continue walking through those doors. Teachers continue teaching. Families continue relying on the school. And a gift made years earlier can still be creating value every school day. That is the kind of impact Christos Ministries wants to build.
What Does Your Donation Actually Do?
This is where the Christos story becomes especially tangible. When you give, your generosity can become something you can actually point to.
It can become:
- a classroom where children learn;
- furniture, technology, books, or educational resources that make a school usable;
- sanitation or water infrastructure that helps create a safe learning environment;
- a scholarship that removes a financial barrier for a student;
- restoration of a school or community resource after disaster or damage;
- ongoing support that helps completed projects remain useful for years to come.
Christos calls this Stewardship You Can See. The goal is not simply to ask people to give. It is to help donors understand what their generosity becomes.
A donation becomes concrete.
Concrete becomes a classroom.
A classroom becomes opportunity.
And opportunity can begin changing the trajectory of a child, a family, and a community.
You Become Part of the Story
Christos Ministries does not see donors on one side and communities on the other. We see partners. Local leaders understand their communities. Teachers understand their students. Families understand their needs. Builders, volunteers, churches, businesses, and donors each bring something different to the work. The most meaningful change happens when those contributions come together around a shared purpose.
That was the idea at the beginning of Christos Ministries.
And it remains the idea today.
You do not have to build an entire school yourself.
You simply bring what you can.
Someone else brings what they can.
And together, something stands where there was once only a need.
Build Hope With Us
There is still much to do. There are classrooms to build, facilities to restore, students to support, schools to equip, and communities whose next chapter may begin with something as practical as a safe place for a child to learn. Your generosity can help make that possible.
Not through pity.
Not through promises that any one organization can solve every problem.
But through something quieter and, perhaps, more enduring:
faith expressed through service.
People working together.
Resources carefully stewarded.
And opportunities built to last.
Build a school. Strengthen a family. Transform a community.
Build Hope With Us.
How can I support school rebuilding projects in Jamaica?
You can support Christos Ministries through donations that help turn practical needs into tangible results—such as classrooms, safer facilities, sanitation, equipment, and educational opportunities. The goal is for generosity to become something visible, useful, and lasting for children, families, and communities.
